Foster's Expression Session Held At Bakio
Monday, October 11, 2004 (Bakio, Euskadi, Spain) The Billabong Pro continued its waiting game today and was ultimately postponed. Organizers again relocated this morning to nearby Bakio beach with the hope of running round three of the Foster's men's ASP World Championship Tournament (WCT), but unfavorable conditions prevailed. A Foster's Expression Session did transpire however, entertaining the large crowd.

Messy 6ft (2m) waves were on offer at Bakio, following a major swell increase overnight. Mundaka was 3-4ft (1.3m) this morning with clean lefthanders, but concerns over the incoming tide led to the move and eventual wait.
The Foster's Expression Session proved a huge success with thousands of locals on-site to watch the world's best. Despite difficult conditions, reigning world champion Andy Irons (HAW) boosted a massive frontside aerial to win US$2,000 prizemoney, while Australian Trent Munro won the best overall ride for another US$1,000.
"The crowd is psyched up," said Irons, surrounded by admiring fans. "It's awesome to see. The waves weren't great, but fun for an Expression Session. Epic that I won, too. I thought we might have been on at Mundaka this morning, but it didn't happen, so I rushed down here. I got a good little wedge and punted an air. Hopefully the waves improve so we can get underway with the contest soon."
Following the Foster's Expression Session, further evaluation took place at Mundaka this afternoon, but the higher tide had deteriorated the surf dramatically. Another decision will be made tomorrow by 8am.
